Earlier this year I wrote a piece on why Messi will go down in history as the greatest ever to play our game of football.
This year's events have made that inevitable. We are lucky to live in an age where we can watch - and easily watch - Iniesta, Xavi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, van Persie and Ibrahimovic. There are always great players but we are arguably the first generation to watch so many playing at the same time and, tellingly, have easy access to their exploits. If we are fortunate to watch those men ply their trade, we are truly blessed to be living in the age of Messi.
No analysis. No defence of his international record. No commentary on his abilities. Just a link to all 86 goals of his goals this year. Sit down, enjoy and be thankful for what you are about to receive. Messi is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
